Knox City Cougars
We would like to welcome you to the Knox City Cougars Basketball Club's website.
The Winter 2010 Season has come to an end. Knox City Cougars had 29 teams successfully participating in the final three weeks of competition. This was a fantastic achievement and it was great to see the dominance of the blue and yellow about the stadium over the three weeks.
After the first round of finals we lost 3 teams, with 12 moving straight to grand final games. These teams need to be commended on their great achievement. But it only got better the 2nd week, when another 10 teams made it thru to the final challenge.
Grand final weekend saw an amazing 22 Knox City Cougar teams playing to win the flag. 16 girls teams and 6 boys teams fighting it out for premierships. Our dominance in the girls side of the competition stood out with the A grade sides making it to grand finals in all age groups – Under 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 and 23’s. We were successful in 5 out of the 6 games with the 18’s narrowly missing out on a premiership win.
There were very few easy wins, with 10 games decided by less than 10 points.
The losses were also narrow with three teams losing by a single point.
Overall we had 12 wins and 10 losses.
Some of the highlights from the grand final weekend included:
- the two Knox City Cougars Under 12 CR teams fighting to win against each other, never an easy challenge and a shame that one team had to lose
- All four of the Under 10 girls teams that made grand finals were successful in their efforts – well done girls
Congratulations to all players, coaches and team managers on a very successful season.
A special thank you needs to go to all the members of the committee who volunteered their time to score in the final three weeks. This is greatly appreciated by all.
We are now busily preparing for the Summer 2011 season.
GO COUGARS!!
